We are committed to providing our students with a safe and healthy environment at Many Farms High School. Our school nurse collaborates with staff, parents/guardians, and students to promote student well-being.

Dispensing Medication

The school nurse administers prescription and over-the-counter medications per the Bureau of Indian Education’s Medication Administration Policy. For details on this policy, please refer to the BIE Medication Administration Policy.

Medical Emergencies

Many Farms High School will immediately transport the student to a local health facility or hospital in a medical emergency. The parent/guardian will be notified as soon as possible, and a staff member will remain with the student until the parent/guardian arrives.

Infectious Disease Control

Many Farms High School, in partnership with the Indian Health Service (IHS), has established guidelines to minimize the spread of communicable diseases within the school.

If a student is suspected to have a communicable or infectious disease:

  1. Staff will notify the principal or designee.
  2. The student will be taken to the nearest hospital (Indian Health Service or private) for evaluation.
  3. The parent/guardian will be contacted immediately.
  4. If isolation is required, the student will be placed in a designated room with regular monitoring every 10 minutes.
  5. The school will implement transmission control measures, including possible quarantine in the school and dormitory (if applicable).
  6. The parent/guardian will receive written notification with information about the disease, symptoms to monitor, prevention measures, and actions taken by the school.

Re-admittance Requirements

Students must provide a doctor's statement confirming they are medically cleared to return to school after an illness involving a communicable or infectious disease. Additionally, the school may require a meeting with the parent/guardian to ensure all safety measures have been met before the student’s re-admittance.
